About Me
The Making of
Menyet:
In the early 80's, I was born in the city of Englewood
(located about 10 minutes from New York City).
In 2012, I was granted with the new Kemetic name of "Menyet Ankh
En Ma'at Menta". My name was given to me by my teacher Hem NTR Ra Sankhu
Kheper after being initiated into the Temple of Anu. The meaning of it
is "Menyet Ankh En Ma'at" She who finds pleasure in living in
balance and harmony. My familial name "Menta" means to establish on
earth.
Purpose:
This blog started as an idea. A simple idea
to present review and discuss different products and media geared for
individuals, families, and educators to promote culturally responsive and
relevant education, specifically within the Pan-African community.
Education:
After graduating from Teaneck High School in Teaneck, NJ I continued my
academic career at William Paterson University in Wayne NJ. While attending the
University, I majored in African, African-American, and Caribbean studies and
concentrated my studies in the area of History and community development.
Recently I began my graduate coursework, at Rutgers University in Social and
Philosophical Foundations in Education and anticipate graduation in the Summer
of 2013 with my MA. I plan to continue my education at Rutgers by earning my
EdD in Education with a
concentration in Concentration in Education, Culture, and Society
Career:
I have been a professional educator in New Jersey since 2008. My focus is
culturally responsive and relevant (multicultural) education and character
education specifically within the Pan-African community. My philosophy for
learning is that each student is unique, and each student learns in a different
way. One of my jobs as a teacher is to help my students discover their academic
potential and work alongside them to maximize it. I fully believe in infusing
technology, hands-on experiences, learning creatively as well as interactively
within the classroom.
